CLIENT: General Public Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20220816
FROM: Townsville to Mackay
DATE: 21 August 2022
POSITION: Brampton Is
REPORT BY: Blue Watch
We woke this morning on the northside of Shaw Island with a pod of dolphins surrounding the ship. All hands on deck to manually raise the anchor with the capstan, however we all missed Russell’s singing to the capstan this morning as his voice had strained from previous performances.
During the morning watch, with help from others on deck, Blue Watch got to put a reef in the foresail so we were not overpowered by the wind.
Today we travelled around 40 nautical miles tacking multiple times to arrive approx 20 nautical miles as the crow flies to anchoring in the lee of Brampton Island.
We have seen many whales during the voyage and one passed immediately in front of the bow today. It is our last night of the voyage and we are all looking forward to more conversations and entertainment on the deck from all the crew.
