CLIENT: Silver Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240923

FROM: Hervey Bay To: Manly

DATE: 24 September 2024

POSITION: Hook Point, Fraser Is

REPORT: Red Watch

The first morning out on the water started well with sunny skies and flat conditions. Starting the morning with a wholesome breakfast and a reef knot-tying competition, we then prepared for the journey back down the Fraser Island Coast to pass through the under-side of the island. We raised sails at around 0930 and made our way South-East, continuing our voyage.

Along the way, we continued ‘learning the ropes’ of the boat and how to more efficiently sail and navigate the ship, enjoying the scenery of the Queensland coast, and the wildlife such as whales, dolphins and dugongs.

Finally, after a long day-2 of sailing, we settle in a small, wind-sheltered cove where we enjoy a hard-earned swim and some R&R by the beach. We finish the day with another two, knot-tying competition both won by White Watch, and our first backstay/forestay races with Red Watch coming out on top. As we settle down and prepare for our large day ahead tomorrow, we can only think what new things we might encounter.
