South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Townsville Grammar School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220727

FROM: Townsville to Townsville

DATE: 28 July 2022

POSITION: Orpheus Is

REPORT BY: Red Watch

We started the morning bright and early by sailing out of Horseshoe Bay. Before we began sailing each watch group competed in a knot competition where each person had to tie a round two and a half hitch knot. The red group took the win this morning beating the other teams by twenty seconds. What an incredible effort!! After the intense competition, each watch group separated to various parts of the vessel where they began hoisting the sails. Whilst it took a while to get an understanding of how to hoist, we eventually began way to our destination Orpheus Island.

After a long day’s journey, everyone was excited upon arrival to see the beautiful beach and to step onto dry land. Despite the water being absolutely freezing, most of our group was brave enough to dive in.  We finished off the day by motoring to Pioneer Bay, anchoring down for a second round of knot competitions, this time with the Reef Knot. With all work done and dusted, everyone kicked back for dinner, dessert and night time duties.
