What a wonderful day we had today! All our wonderful leaders’ teachings came together as we tacked our way to MI (as the locals call it).
We left North East Bay on Palm Island at 8:30am to blustering winds. We motored out of the bay to 26 knot winds. We started on a starboard tack with two reefs in the mainsail and one reef in the foresail, heading south past Albino Rock. We hit 8.2 knots, and all on deck had their PFDs on.
After a few hours, the winds eased a little and we shook out the reefs. We tacked twice after that, before the winds eased considerably until we took the sails down and motored into Horseshoe Bay. There was no time to go ashore, but some voyagers swam off the ship. There was a wonderful sunset, due to fires on the mainland.
We spent the evening playing games and writing reports, serenaded by the South Passage Ukulele Bank.
