South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Training Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20220315

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 15 March 2022

POSITION: Big Sandhills, Moreton Is

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

We headed out into a peaceful channel which was quickly interrupted by man overboard. Fortunately Danny Boy was recused uneventfully.

I thought it exciting to be tethered to the bowsprit while untying the gaskets holding the Jib. Great and challenging sailing day with 30kt winds, squalls, rain, and occasional blue sky. Extraordinary number of tacks and even putting a reef number 2 in on the run.

Awesome crew, great teamwork, cooperation eager participation with everyone chipping in to help. Consistency in all aspects of skill, sharing knowledge, and encouragement ruled the day. Jane one of new trainees turned green and threatened to vomit just before lunch. She wants to thank Steve for the rescue cucumber.

Take away message from this exciting day is that, it is not so much about learning to sail but to navigate through life by facing and learning from challenges.

Hugh our most patient and talented cook, served up his famous chicken legs. All meals were exceptional and plentiful.

We are grateful for the gentle consistent and safe guidance from our Watchleader Dave. John, Jane, Micky.
