South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Youth Gold D of E Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210628

FROM: Cairns to Townsville

DATE: 28 June 2021

POSITION:  Fitzroy Island

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

Today was the first day of our Gold Duke of Edinburgh sailing adventurous journey. We began the day waking up to the sound of a bugle call at 6.30am. We enjoyed a cold breakfast (cereal) prepared by Hugh, then later a hot breakfast (toast). We all got together to get introduced to the crew and met our amazing, outstanding, supreme watch leader, Tim, at our muster stations. It was our watch’s job to raise the jib and staysail today then we left the port at around 9:30am with 30km/h winds.

We were met with extreme challenges like the crazy winds and were clinging on or getting splashed with water. However, we came out alive. Lunch was at around 11:30 and was delicious. After sailing we anchored at Fitzroy Island, went swimming, ate dinner then had some downtime for showering and games. Blue watch now has a night watch going from 8:00pm to 12:00am which is when we are writing this now! Shout out to Debbie, Jacob, Luci and Peter (from Sarah and Emma).
