CLIENT: Mareeba State High School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210619

FROM: Cairns to Cairns

DATE: 21 June 2021

POSITION:  Moore Reef

REPORT BY: White Watch

The white watch team won the figure of eight rope knotting competition. We anchored at a little sand bank (Sudbury Cay) and went snorkelling and then sailed to Moore Reef and anchored for the night.

My favourite part about today was bringing in the sheets because it made us work together in a team and get the job done so we could either tack or take down the sails. Whilst sailing to the anchor spot, we had to let the sails out the side and put a preventer on to stop it from swinging back onto the deck and hitting people.

At midday we had spaghetti for lunch and anchored up at a sandbank and snorkelled for an hour giving us the privilege to see the coral and sea life in first person. Next we set sail again. We celebrated Skye’s birthday (cake and singing) after the sails were lowered. As we lowered the sails, we were visited by a pod of dolphins who played and swam at the bow of the ship.
