South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Mullumbimby HS

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210302

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 4 March 2021

POSITION:  Blakesleys

REPORT BY: Red Watch

Today, we woke up at 4am to start our watch. We learnt knots and prepared to clean brass but it started to rain. Then we had breakfast and had a bowline competition which we won and a clove hitch competition which we lost. We are currently in the lead for points. Then we had hot breakfast of bacon and eggs.

We raised head sails with Charlie for Bosun which was a great success. We rested, had lunch and then went on watch. After a few tacks we lowered all three sails. We attempted a treasure hunt but did not complete it until later. We went ashore and swam. Then there was a knot competition for the sheet bend, which we won.

Stir fry was on the menu for dinner. Desert was sticky date pudding with cream or custard. We held an election for skipper, sailing master and navigator.  Then we went on watch and had to write this out in “essay”. Two of us were rescued to use a compass and notepad to “triangulate” where we are. After which we were offered to be able to make hot chocolate. We named the parts of the ship as part of bookwork.
