South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Somerset College

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20200907

FROM: Hervey Bay to Manly

DATE: 8 September 2020

POSITION:  White Cliffs, Hervey Bay

REPORT BY: White Watch

Today we sailed from Moon Point and we anchored late tonight at White Cliffs. We spent some time early this morning swimming at Fraser Island which was unfortunately cut short due to the rain and fast rising tide. There were some beautiful shells and the sand was white in contrast to the deep blue colour of the sea.

Returning to the ship, we held a knot tying competition (figure eight knot). All watches were super competitive but by far white watch won! Though red watch is currently in the lead (at 7) which is only one point in front of white and blue is only one point behind. At midday we began sailing which was so much fun as the ship picked up speed. The ship heeled at over 20 degrees which was a little scary for those below deck.

We finished off tonight with another knot tying competition (bowline) which blue won this time. As the group reflected on today, we watched the beautiful sunset and remarked on how lucky we are to call these waters home.
