South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Youth Gold Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20201204

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 4 December 2020

POSITION:  near Russell Is

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

The voyage began at 8 o’clock with everyone arriving at Manly Harbour ready to board the South Passage. We were allocated watches (red, white and blue), blue being the best watch group so far. The watch leaders taught us the basics along with the South Passage moto; ROPES: Respect, Opportunity, Participation, Enjoyment and Safety. Each watch got an opportunity to practice tacking before the South Passage began its journey.

We set sail smoothly and headed out into the bay, while enjoying a delicious lunch made by the infamous cook, Hugh. Each watch participated in a 2 hour watch involving steering the ship, lookout and other roles. Each watch was able to tack before reaching our first stop at Peel Island. Once we reached our destination the group was able to enjoy a swim off the ship avoiding any sunburn.

Once the group was finished with swimming, we hoisted the anchor and began to sail south easterly towards our final destination for the day. Once we reached the final destination, the watches lowered their sails and we anchored successfully. Ella and Ruby
