South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Bronze D of E Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20210112

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 12 January 2021

POSITION:  Horseshoe Bay, Peel Island

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

After we left Manly, it was sunny and windy as we raised the sails. Learning to raise the sails, we learnt terminology for parts of the ship and the ropes, such as port and starboard for the sides of the ship. Lunchtime was enjoyable, as we had sandwich rolls with ham, salami, cheese and salad. We rotated rolls throughout the day and were able to steer the ship.

Throughout the day we practiced knot tying, and at the end of the day we won a knot tying contest for the round turn and two half hitches knot. The ship anchored at Horseshoe Bay and we went for a swim, jumping off the edge of the ship. The water was nice, and was a refreshing change from the deck work in the sun. After we dried up, we did a trust building activity called the Circle of Trust, and then went around the group and introduced ourselves.

We sat down for dinner and appreciated a nice hot meal of chicken and rice. As we are currently writing this paragraph we are enjoying a nice warm cup of delicious hot chocolates and biscuits. Tomorrow we are excited to head off to Tangalooma.
