South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Lorien Novalis School

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20191027

FROM: Port Stephens To: Sydney

DATE: 27 October 2019

POSITION:  Fame Cove, Port Stephens

REPORT BY: Blue Watch

We spent Saturday night in the marina at Port Stephens. Everyone woke up at 1 am to someone fixing the doorknob of the head (toilet) which unsettled our already excited class. When we awoke at 6:30 am, we found out only the top bunk people could feel the ship rocking. We enjoyed a delicious hot and cold breakfast before getting ready to learn safety drills and setting sail. The teams took part in a knot contest and blue team won because we are simply talented.

Initially we found it challenging, getting up and remembering all the new terminology that the crew gave us. However, at the end of the day we were going much smoother and were able to take lead when tacking and work together as a team. We even saw dolphins within the first few minutes of our trip! After a very successful first day, we are looking forward to the rest of our voyage.
