Cast off at 0900 hours after taking on stores at Breakwater Marina Townsville. After passing the inner channel beacons set course of 325 degrees sailing west of Magnetic Island under full sail and engine. Prior to reaching Acheron Island and Cordelia Rock passed US Navy ship (Name unidentified) 1 NM on starboard side. Wind was south at 5 knots.

In the early afternoon at 1330 hours wind shifted to SSE and rose to 10 knots and eased sail although still under engine. Passed Havannah Is to Port and Palm Is to starboard. Altered course to starboard to 330 degrees opposite Fantome Is and drew into the pontoon at Orpheus Is where the ship was moored to the piles. Crew went for swim. After dinner cast off and anchored offshore in approximately 13 m depth of water. Wind rose to 10 knots in the night veering to SSW.
