South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Sydney to Brisbane Public Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20190110

FROM: Sydney To: Manly

DATE: 14 January 2019

POSITION: Heading for Southport

REPORT BY: White Watch

We finally left Coffs Harbour after prepping the sails and going on a walk around Mutton Bird Island. We spotted a baby brown snake, Tom’s bee sting from the previous day inflated like a red balloon and White Watch dominated the backstay competition. There was very little wind for most of the afternoon and we had to use the motor through the night just to stick to schedule. White Watch had the 2000 – 2400hr shift that made for a much desired sleep-in… to 0700hr.

We only had to tack once but it was an interesting tack because at some time during the day a couple of people decided to tie a knot around the mermaid, that they then tied around the green line, and then to the deck…which caught the jib sheet and prevented us from actually pulling the sheet to the correct position until our Watch Leader untied the rope, all just before the end of our shift.
