CLIENT: Volunteer Training Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240226

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 26 February 2024

POSITION: Horseshoe Bay, Peel Is

REPORT: White Watch

Today began at 6am and we prepared the ship for sea. Nice brekky provided at 6.30am. We left after a safety briefing. The voyage started with a sharp turn to port; the long line pulled us off the berth with the help of the Tide café staff member, Jaz.

We prepared the sails for hoisting and undertook two variations of the man overboard drill. One with sails down, and the other a Heave-To drill with sails up. Sails were hoisted and we headed out past Green Island, and we had massive tacking practice courses at 180 south and 0 degrees north. Wind speed 15knots from south easterly direction, boat speed around 7 knots with a knot of current. We did a preliminary fire drill with the manual fire pump.

We arrived at Horseshoe Bay, Peel Island our anchorage for the night.  After the sails were stowed, we had a swim, and knotting competition, Red Watch won. Followed by an excellent meal by chef extraordinaire, Hugh.
