VOYAGE NUMBER:  20230710

FROM: Cairns to Townsville

DATE: 12 July 2023

POSITION: Orpheus Is

REPORT: Blue Watch

Our most physically and mentally challenging day began at the crack of dawn. Our destination laying 70nm ahead, Mourilyan Harbour to Orpheus Island. Consistently, the day was filled with 15-20 knt winds, rain, and cloud. We also had to battle against the swell spraying over the deck when the waves peaked at 5m. Furthermore, the lean of the ship made us feel like flying off the ship.

Yet jobs still needed to be done, so working like champions all watch groups completed smooth tacks. Despite the weather, we attempted to make the most of it, splashing around on the hammock and tucking into warm spag bol the wonderful cook whipped up. There were also multiple sightings of whales, lifting spirits up. Overall, it was a long day filled with challenges, but we made it to Orpheus Island safe and sound.
