CLIENT: Voyage of Friends
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20170623
FROM: Cairns TO: Townsville
DATE: 24 June 2017
POSITION: Mourilyan Harbour
Report by: White Watch
White watch was saved from polishing the brass because of a downpour at 6am. At 7am we hoisted the sails in squally, blustery weather in a 1.5m swell. Some succumbed to sea sickness. A welcome stop for swimming, sunbaking and snorkelling at Sudbury Cay meant most recovered. Descriptions of coloured fish and silver trevally accompanied by beautiful blue starfish were overheard.
Lunch was superb. Cath has provided wonderful meals, and this was no exception. We had a choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian hamburgers with fresh salad.
The afternoon was on port tack for most of the way beating into a South Easterly wind until a tack to starboard brought us to Mourilyan Harbour by 7.30pm. All watches successfully dropped sails in the dark.
