POSITION: Tangalooma wrecks

Today was the end of our thirty-hour sail from Yamba to Moreton Island at the Tangalooma wrecks. We spent the morning sailing and arrived around lunch time. After a delicious lunch by Hugh (Mexican chicken), we put on our togs and sunscreen and prepared to go to shore. Some people chose to go snorkelling on the wrecks while others walked along the beach. No visible sharks but Kegan spotted a painted crayfish whilst others swam among the fish. Once we had finished swimming we came on board to elect tomorrow’s command day crew. After a secret vote, Jess was elected as skipper, Miko as sailing master and James as our navigator. Let’s hope they will get us home in time!
Following the election we all headed onto the deck to tie our second last knot, the rolling hitch. Unfortunately we (blue watch) had no chance of winning the competition but we still had a go and came second. White and Red watch tied for first place. Tomorrow’s knot is worth double points so we may see a change in the leader board. It was then time for dinner and card games. During dinner time two eagle rays jumped out of the water. Most of us are too tired to stay up, so it looks like an early night for everyone but blue watch.
