REPORT: White Watch
We started this morning with gaining the final three members this morning. After that we did some ice breakers to get to get to know everyone and the crew better. We were split into three groups- Red, White and Blue- to keep watch of the ship at specific times. We then met our Watch group at our muster station before preparing to raise the sail. Red Watch was on the fore sail, White Watch was mainsail, Blue Watch were on the staysails. We raised the sails and began to embark on our journey out of the Cairns Harbour.
We then had lunch which was build your own burgers with salami and ham as your choice of meat. The we took over as watch on duties as deck positions- Helm, Standby Port lookout, Port lookout, Deck Check, Starboard lookout, and Standby helm. We continued to sail until we reached our destination, Fitzroy Island. We then lowered the sails and dropped the anchor and dropped the tinny.
The sailing master then ferried us to the beach where we went snorkelling and jumped off the pier. We then returned to the schooner and had a delicious dinner cooked by Hugh. We finished the night with dancing in the Dark by Ed Sheeran to finish the night above deck.
