South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: Bronze Youth Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER:  20230429

FROM: Manly to Manly

DATE: 30 April 2023

POSITION: Peel Is

REPORT: Red Watch

We started our day at 3am where we filled out our handbooks and identified our surroundings. At 6:30 everyone on board was woken up for cold breakfast before our knot tying competition (red watch easily won). At 7:15 we had hot breakfast which was delicious.

At 7:45 we began cleaning the galley and preparing to rise the sails. At 8:30 we hoisted the sails and departed from Tangalooma. On our watch we completed two tacks to avoid with Moreton Island, plotted our coordinates, steered the helm, and looked for hazards. After our watch we played cards and wrote in our logbooks about our day.

At 3:00 we arrived at Peel Island and lowered the anchor and sails. We took the dinghy to shore and played games on the beach and went for a swim. When we got back to the ship, we jumped off the starboard bow and moved positions to a more secluded spot. For dinner we had sausages and mash then cheesecake for dessert. After dinner we prepared for the bowline knot tying competition. We really enjoyed today’s activities and look forward to our last day tomorrow.
