VOYAGE NUMBER:  20240923

FROM: Hervey Bay To: Manly

DATE: 26 September 2024

POSITION: Green Island

REPORT: White Watch

Our morning started at 12:00am in time for our anchor watch where we went through the various bearings of the local buoys, our coordinates and learnt to tie the single sheet bend. We got a few hours of sleep then woke up at 6:30 to the sound the bugle, the smell of bacon and eggs and the view of Tangalooma’s shipwreck. Our knot competition for this morning was regrettably won by red watch.

After hot breakfast, we made our way to Tangalooma beach where we ran down sand dunes and swam in the turquoise water. One of the highlights of today was jumping off of the ship and climbing up the bowsprit to kiss the mermaid.

We set sail at around 10am for Green Island and during our journey, we spotted whales jumping in the distance. Once we arrived at Green Island, we jumped off of the ship for the second time today. Grey clouds and choppy waters replaced the shining sun and crystal-clear water of Moreton Island. Knot competition number two of the day (the rolling hitch) came to a tie between white and red watch.

We finished the day preparing for our commander day by electing our Skipper (Luke), Sailing master (Remy) and Navigator (Hudson).  Then, to end the night, we did some team bonding by playing various card games.
