Through completing day two of south passage, white watch, among others completed the daily tasks and faced unexpected challenges. The day started with four white watch members waking up at the early hour of 5:00am. During the first hour of the watch, the initial four members completed paperwork and checked the bearings. As well as completing the logbook for the night watch. The remaining members of white watch were woken, and collectively polished the brass. Many members struggled to adapt to the change of sleeping habits. The rest of the crew were then woken by a horn blown a white watch member, in preparation for the first breakfast of the day, cold.

The crew was then instructed to conduct a tidy of the cabin and bathrooms. Hot breakfast was served, then soon cleaned after. The first rope tying competition of the day was completed, with reef knots being chosen as the selected knot.  White watch was victorious in this stage of knot tying competition, with a winning streak from the previous day. After white watch completed the shift, other groups raised sails and began their watches.

The journey to the Gold Coast from Horseshoe Bay had started. During the time off, white watch members were permitted to lay on the bowsprit, given a harness was worn. After a few hours of travelling a beautifully prepared lunch of burgers was then served. Another rope tying competition was held later, with white watch placing 2nd. The knot competed with was a figure 8. Free time was allocated, and the crew played card games.

Dinner was served by the amazing Hugh, delighting us with sausages and mashed potatoes. Cheesecake was for dessert! After dinner, white watch was allocated a small amount of time for a break then went onto the next shift. During this shift, spanning from 8:30-10:30, the report was completed and bearings where measured. Can’t wait for another days excitement, challenges and memorable adventures!
