South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: General Public Voyage

VOYAGE NUMBER: 20170703

FROM: Townsville TO: Cairns

DATE: 4 July 2017

POSITION: Haycock Is, Hinchinbrook Channel

Report by: White Watch

The day started at 04:00, with the sun rising over Magnetic Island, whilst the White watch polished the brass, including the bell, helm and the bugle. The latter was played at 06:30 to summon the sailors. Hughy was up bright eyed and bushy tailed, singing ‘girls just wanna have fun’, and making our brilliant breaky, consisting of cereal, milk, eggs and baked beans. The winners of today’s reef knot tying completion were the white team, earning us an equal place on the leader board.

The most surreal moment of the day was viewing the several humpback whales breaching. We sailed into Orpheus Island around 3:00pm and swum and snorkelled and many of us jumped off the boat. We made our way down Hinchinbrook Channel after seeing the longest wharf in the southern hemisphere. Settling down after a long day, we anchored the South Passage and wet a line in crocodile and mosquito infested waters. Love from Georgia, Sophie and Arty
