CLIENT: Youth Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20260928
FROM: Hervey Bay To: Manly
POSITION: Inskip Point
DATE: 30 September 2026
REPORT: Blue Watch
Blue watch began the day at midnight 0001 hrs and took bearings of various landmarks around the vessel. This ensures that the anchor does not drag despite the incredibly strong current at North White Cliffs. Hot chocolate and biscuits were delivered by our watch leader. We returned to the galley and worked on the blue theory book before returning to bed.
We hoisted the mainsail and began our watch at 1000 hrs continuing down the Great Sandy Strait towards Inskip. We spotted many port and starboard lateral marks and the skipper remarked on our helming abilities. Due to strong headwind the staysail and jib had to be lowered.
In preparation for the knotting competition in the afternoon, everyone came together and created a ring of single sheet knots. The backstay competition was a close head on match but after prioritizing quality over speed we did not make the cut over the other teams. We moved swiftly onto the knot tying competition, where red watch secured their first victory.
After a gourmet dinner made by our chef, Louise, we celebrated the birthday of our crewmate, Cody, with some delicious chocolate cake. Tomorrow shall be a tough day with an early morning, and 14 hours of sailing, but blue watch is ready for anything that comes our way.
