FROM: Manly To: Manly

POSITION: Tangalooma

DATE: 18 September 2026

REPORT: White Watch

We went to Moreton Island from the William Gunn Jetty in Brisbane around 9000 hours. We learnt how to sail by hoisting the sails and steering the ship from the helm, whilst leaning to tie various knots such as the round turn and two half hitches. We also did various drills such as the man-overboard drill. The weather was sunny, with light winds at 3 knots.

We didn’t encounter a large array of marine life, but did come across turtles, fishes and birds. Following anchoring at the beach in front of Tangalooma, we lowered the dinghy, using it to travel to and from the shore. We participated in a range of activities at the beach, such as climbing sand dunes and swimming. Afterwards, we returned to our ship to have dinner; sausages and potatoes.
