CLIENT: Somerset College
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20260906
FROM: Hervey Bay To: Manly
POSITION: Noosa
DATE: 8 September 2026
REPORT: Blue Watch
Today was another fun day filled with unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Blue Watch 1 and 2 encountered a pod of dolphins breaching at 12am. The whole crew later awoke at 4:30am to hoist the sails and begin our voyage into the open ocean, waving goodbye to K’gari.
The sunrise painted the sky in hues of oranges and pinks as our feet dangled off the boat’s edge overlooking the clear water. By the later morning, the wind picked up and we finally got a taste of strong waters (ensuring we took Kwells)! Nothing could beat the sight of a whale breaching, a dolphin swimming beside our boat and multiple more pods nearby.
We anchored in Noosa Bay and went for an evening swim just before our Bowline Knot-tieing competition. Tomorrow we depart at 2am to hoist the sails and arrive at Moreton Island. Finally the day was finished with Hugh’s yummy sticky date pudding!
