Today we continued to sail with two reefs in both sails. Due to punching into headwinds we tacked a number of times to eventually reach the magnificent Hayman Island, then following along the west coast of Hook Island in a Southerly direction. After navigating through traffic and strong currents approaching the Whitsunday Islands, we gratefully rounded the tip of the Island to track south passed Hill Inlet and towards the spectacular, sparkling Whitehaven Beach.
We then anchored ship and many went to shore for hiking and snorkelling, spotting black tip reef sharks and rays, whilst hikers found a lookout point with a breathtaking view of both sides of the island. All returned to vessel for another delicious meal prepared by cook Rana. We are currently surrounded by very impressive yachts, including hot tubs and slides, though they can’t compare to the bowspirit nap some had earlier in the day! We return to anchor watches tonight with full bellys and happy smiles, grateful for another day on South Passage. Anita, Graham, Matt, Sarah and Terry
