This morning’s departure from Cape Bowling Green we were treated to a pod of whales, dolphins, and several fish all within the space of five minutes. The wind quickly dropped, with flattening seas for the remainder of our voyage to Cape Upstart. Arriving at the cape early afternoon, some of the crew set out to explore the beach, with others remaining behind onboard for a swim. Arriving on shore a starfish greeted us, and later dozens of heart urchins drifted in on the tide as we were heading back to the ship.
Red Watch set some particularly outstanding new records in the knot competition, with the others dragging behind. Rana, our cook, kept us very well fed throughout the day with a barbeque feast for lunch, bangers and mash for dinner, and a delectable cheesecake to cap it all off. The day’s adventures concluded with the sunset splashing deep purples and oranges with clouds stretched across the horizon. Nicola, Erin, Brendan, Oliva, Laurens.
