South Passage Daily Report

CLIENT: St Gregory’s College

FROM: Sydney TO: Sydney

DATE: Day 2, 27 November 2016

POSITION: Fingal Bay

Report by: Red Watch

We woke up and practised doing a reef knot then we cleaned the brass around the wheel. After that we woke everyone up and we all had breakfast cereal and hot breakfast. Around 8:00 am the crew had a knotting contest and our team came first with 81 seconds in time.

We raised the anchor then sails and headed off. We than had time to relax since we were on break. When on break we had a practise man over board drill where we took 20min to get the Danbuoy. Then  we were on watch where we rotated through the 6 activities and then back to a break.

After that break we were on night watch where we were sailing in the night. After about 40 min we had to get all hands on deck and we put down the sails and tied everything up and placed it where needed. After that we went up to the top and picked places to mark out where we were and measure wind, then we had to come down here to log in the readings.

The highlight of the day for me was when we were sailing until 8 pm at night and that I did the knotting contest with my eyes closed and seeing a shark.
