VOYAGE NUMBER: 20260615
FROM: Cairns To: Cairns
POSITION: Fitzroy Is
DATE: 16 June 2026
REPORT: Red Watch
Today we were woken up at 6:30 by Mirriam blowing the bugle. We started with a cold breakfast and then started the knot tying competition. This morning we did the reef knot and red watch won. The weather was very nice today unlike yesterday morning. Today we had to raise the anchor manually by a capstan on the bow like the sailors did on the old sailing ships.
Then at 9:00 we hoisted the main sail. We started off on deck watch and we rotated through different positions and all got a turn helming. We sailed toward Green Island. When we came off watch we had some of Rana’s delicious hamburgers for lunch. When we got near Green Island we tacked and headed towards Fitzroy Island.
We reached Fitzroy at 4:00pm. The waves were still big today but when we got to the anchorage it was flat. We had another knotting competition. This time we did the figure of eight. We really smashed the knot but blue watch smashed it better. For dinner we had bangers and mash and for dessert we had sticky date pudding. Tommorow we’ll go ashore on Fitzroy Island.
