As we woke up we were greeted with an amazing sunrise at Pearl Bay. We had an early start before breakfast to sail the 56 NM to Middle Percy Island. Anchor was raised using the Windlass. Breakfast of scrambled eggs with Cook Louise’s special aired parsley and baked beans was served while underway. The wind was a reliable southerly of 15 kt so good progress was made.
Before long the Percy group of islands were on the horizon. We were able to hold a broad reach to our destination without any gybes. We also sailed most of the day without engines which was peaceful, even sailing through the Military area of Shoalwater Bay. Dolphins and turtles were spotted in the distance.
We arrived about 2.30 to our anchorage and launched the dinghy for a shore excursion. Super exciting since there is a historical A-frame building with records of ships that have visited in past years. We added South Passage for 2026. South Passage has been visiting each year since 1994. Some people walked to the homestead in the middle of the island.
Back on the ship, Red watch won the knotting competition against stiff competition for the second consecutive day. Spaghetti Bolognaise ala-master was on the menu for dinner. Good Night!
