Before leaving Tangalooma we made a quick stop back to Manly to gather some resources. We arrived back in Manly at midnight, slept and took off at 4.00am. We raised the sails and headed into the wide blue ocean, giving us spectacular views on the glasshouse mountains and even Noosa. The water was a little choppy and a few of the crew shared their meals with the ocean. Some of the creatures that were fed were Dolphins and Dugongs, it was amazing to see them!
We sailed for more than 15 hours straight to Wide Bay Bar on a rising tide, arriving at around 8pm and anchored at Inskip Point at 9pm. After sleeping through the night, we were woken by the freshly polished bugle played wonderfully by Ray. After a hearty meal of porridge, hash browns and spaghetti, we raised the sails. We then completed a manual raise of the anchor. This led to the first happy birthday for Stanley (first of many!).
K’gari was our next Island in sight after Mexican beef tacos prepared by our amazing chef Hugh! As we found out it is the largest sand island in the world. What a sight. We had fun at shore chasing crabs, splashing Tom, Ray, Emmanuel, Suzi, Oscar and Jackie. Luckily the sun was shining and we dried off in no time. Back on the boat we had lemon cake, candles and a song for Stanley’s 16th birthday. Finally we upped anchor and motored to Big Woody Island. Tomorrow we are heading for our final destination of Urangan Boat Harbour in Hervey Bay.
