In the morning, we woke up after having sailed through the previous day’s storm, and went for a swim whilst simultaneously fixing the reefing line that came out from the storm, something which none of the crew had previously seen happen before. Once the sails were up, our watch had a break until 10am, where we continued course towards Broughton Island, heading out towards the ocean completing several tacks, and our first gybe of the trip.
Our lunch for today was a delicious wrap with mince prepared by Hugh, and we arrived at Broughton Island at about midday, and anchored to go ashore. We travelled ashore by the dingy. After travelling to shore the boys decided to try fish and when we couldn’t we then went to walking along the beach and climbing over the rocks. The girls went snorkelling and walking the beach also. After all this, we were then picked up by the dingy again and brought back to the ship.
From there we departed for Coffs Harbour. We set the sails and had a wonderful Chinese dinner. Our watch started at 6pm and will finish at 8pm. Today the weather was perfect with light winds.
