We were gathered at Wharf 7 when Rosemary, clipboard in hand, called out our names – we were now the Mighty Whites. We then went on the ship and put our luggage in and set up our beds. We went through safety features such as lifejackets and the safety hatch before beginning our voyage up the river to Paramatta.
We then did a U- turn and put up the sails to head down the river and out under the Harbour Bridge, through the heads and out to the open ocean. We went further out to sea for a while practicing our watches and learning our ways around the ship, including first encounters with sea sickness.
We then did another U- Turn and headed back through the heads into Manly to anchor for the night. Once settled in we then got dressed into our swimwear to dive in for a swim to refresh ourselves after a long day.
