This morning began with an incredible swim in the crystal-clear waters off Peel Island, a perfect start to the day. Everyone jumped in for a game of footy and a round of grudine along the shoreline, laughter echoing across the bay before we climbed back aboard and set sail toward the towering sand dunes of Moreton Island.
But as we made our way north, the weather turned against us. Winds surged to over 25 knots, whipping up steep, uncomfortable seas that forced us to reassess our plans. After a quick but careful decision, we altered our course and sought shelter near Green Island, a small, shelly oasis sitting quietly about 40 minutes from Brisbane. Though unexpected, the change of destination offered a calm and peaceful end to an otherwise adventurous day.
