Our third day on the South Passage voyage came full with surprises. Once we got started, we departed Tangalooma and arrived at the Sand Hills. Ginormous sand hills filled the horizons. After some climbing and very sore calves, we arrived at one of the highest peaks on the world’s tallest sand islands.
When we had finished climbing, we went back down towards the bay to do some swimming and snorkelling, with Travis and Chase spotting an eel and multiple large fish, as well as spotting a large sea turtle on the dinghy. Everyone returned to the ship and we began sailing towards Peel Island.
As the skies darkened, so did the clouds. Heavy winds sent the sails into chaos, with the ship reaching some incredible speed. Lightning lit up the dark skies as we changed our route back towards Stradbroke Island. Once all sails were taken down, the clouds opened and poured down as White Watch were sent to tie down the front sails. Lucy
