The morning sun barely peeked through the clouds as Kash, Lily, Kaneesha, JJ, Sophie, and eleven other brave souls left the dock aboard the South Passage in Brisbane, bound for Peel Island. Spirits were high, snacks were packed, and the sea looked… well, questionable.
As soon as we left the docks, the sea turned choppy. The boat pitched and rolled like a carnival ride gone rogue. Kaneesha clung to the railing, eyes wide, while Kash tried to keep everyone laughing, until he turned green himself. One by one, passengers fell victim to the wrath of the sea. Eleven out of sixteen were soon feeding the fish, their dignity left somewhere in Moreton Bay.
Then came the dunking. A rogue wave slammed the net at the front of the boat, sending Kash, lily, and JJ flying on to each other and drenching them with water. “I’ve been dunked into next week!” Lily shouted, half-laughing, half-panicking as her life jacket expanded. As the sails were taken down the group decided to make the most of the calm afternoon. They piled into the dinghy and motored over to the beach at Peel Island. One by one, they dived in, splashing, swimming, and floating in the sun, finally at peace after the wild ride. It was the perfect way to end a day that none of them would ever forget.
