Our morning started at 12am with navigation exercises to ensure the ship didn’t move or drag anchor overnight. The voyage from Southport to Iluka began early at 4am, when the anchor was lifted. The morale grew throughout the team as we used games to bond and distract ourselves from the sea-sickness.
A pod of majestic dolphins flew by at the front of the ship jumping out of the water, following the current of the ship. We had burritos for lunch and stir fry for dinner. We passed by many familiar landmarks around the Northern Rivers and Gold Coast and spotted the Byron Bay lighthouse.
As we pulled into the Clarence River at Iluka we lowered the sails and tied them up. The sunset was a magnificent end to a great day.
