REPORT: Blue Watch
We started the day with breakfast at 0630 for a cold breakfast with cereal. Knot tying competition followed at 0700 and then we practised the Bowline knot. After this, we had a hot breakfast, with hash browns, spaghetti and toast.
Everyone went for a swim off the ship, jumping off the railing. A morning meeting was held which went over safety concerns as well as preparation for the final day of the voyage. We raised the sails at 1130 hours. The Blue Watch positioned on the mainsail; White Watch at the jib and staysail; and Red Watch positioned at the foresail. The first watch held by Blue Watch between 1000 – 1200. Lunch was between 1130 and 1200, and we ate burritos. Red Watch took the next watch and was between 1200 and 1500, which was cut short as the anchor and sails were lowered at 1430.
A shore party was sent to shore at Tangalooma at 1515 and arrived back at 1630. The shore party played a number of different ball games and also went for a swim in the surf. After the shore party returned, another knot tying competition was held, with the clove hitch knot practised. Dinner was after this, where we ate Chinese stir fry, and a short meeting about the 4th and final day followed, as well as a vote on leadership positions for the command day.
