VOYAGE NUMBER:  20250817

FROM: Townsville To: Mackay

POSITION: Nara Inlet

DATE: 19 August 2025

REPORT: Blue Watch

The Blue Crew started off their day in the wee hours of the morning. Pitch black, clear skies filled our hearts with energy for the coming day, until the watch ended at 0400 hrs and we passed out…

The sun rose and bathed Cape Gloucester in a warm glow as we enjoyed a scrumptious hot breakfast of hashbrowns and grilled tomatoes prepared by our fabulous cook, Louise. Before manually raising the anchor to the tune of “Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s off to work we go”, the crew completed the reef knot competition and then set sail towards The Whitsunday’s. South Passage then enjoyed a beautiful day of sailing at a comfortable pace of around 7 knots as we were greeted by whales breaching just off the bow.

We cruised into Nara Inlet just in time for a short shore excursion to see the cave paintings done by the Ngaro people, thousands of years ago. When we returned from the adventure, the South Passage crew polished off the Figure of Eight knotting competition followed by dinner surrounded by natures serenity and topped off with sticky date pudding.
