CLIENT: Sailing Retreat
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250805
FROM: Townsville To: Townsville
POSITION: Hazard Bay, Orpheus Island
DATE: 6 August 2025
REPORT: Red Watch
Red watch rose at midnight, what a delight!
The graveyard shift kicked off the night.
Each took an hour, through yawns and cheer,
Then back to bed, “we survived!” was clear.
Our mighty Rachael, fearless and spry,
Fell to the lurgy (we tried not to cry)
With 4 leaders left and sails to raise
We zigged and zagged through salty haze.
“Sails up! Sails down! Now tack, now jibe!”
The day was a nautical fitness vibe.
Jane spun the helm like a salty queen,
A 180 turn- the cleanest we’ve seen!
We hit Orpheus island for snorkel and swim.
Jess looked for turtles- but chances were slim.
Up to the lookouts for views and a chat,
Lamingtons and tea- let’s have some of that!
A sunset sail was tossed around,
But tired crew chose motoring sound.
We passed Pelorus- luxury high!
But our fun was free (and our food? OH MY!)
Then magic struck at golden hour.
As whales appeared with mighty power.
Mum, calf, escort- breach and spray,
With Hinchinbrook behind on full display.
Leanne, the whale whisperer, wise and bold
Told us to BANG! And lo, behold!
They circled round, curious and near,
As we clapped like kids full of cheer.
To top it off, beneath the stars so bright,
The ukulele danced into the night.
And Rana? Our hero, our culinary queen
Sticky date pudding stole the scene.
“So good!” we cried, with sticky delight,
“Best. Day. Ever”, echoed through the night.
From graveyard shift to pudding dreams,
Red Watch ruled the sea, or so it seems.
