REPORT: White Watch
The day started with a wonderful breakfast followed by a second breakfast equally as wonderful. Then we set off from Townsville under motor due to the beautiful windless day and headed towards Havannah Island in the Palm Island Group.
We got knotted trying to learn knots, not as good as our watch leader yet. We observed Red and Blue teams flex their muscles as they raised the Jib and foresail. Then we were on watch, not a lot was happening when in the distance we saw what was first thought to be a log, as we got closer, after consulting with our whale lactation specialist we realised that it was a mother whale and a newborn calf. Suddenly the deck was crowded.
Soon after this we arrived at Havannah Island, we anchored, and some were ferried ashore whilst others swam. The snorkellers got a bit adventurous and had to be rounded up by the boat tender. While snorkelling a large clam was spotted and several fish, one quite large, others saw a red eel and a goat was spotted on the island, also an eagle.
Then back on board, it became obvious, that some had had too much sun as we noticed our watch leaders and a couple of others were now in Tutus and fliting around the ship. We were lucky enough to have a Life Coach on board and had a very enlightening session that brought us a lot of enjoyment. The day was coming to a close and our Cook created yet another delicious meal, with a very tasty pudding.
White Watch then took the bearings for the ship for the night, accidently taking the bearing on a boat and our Marine rescue watch member with many skills noticed this while she was casting her fishing line and we corrected this minor problem. Unfortunately, there were no fish caught.
This is a crew of many talents, including a pole dancing expert, and by all means we may all be learning this as an elective. We will see what happens over the next few days. Certificate one in Pole Dancing coming up.
