REPORT: White Watch
We got up at 12 am to do our watch, where our watch leader taught us a new knot called the single sheet bend. After filling in pages regarding nautical markers we headed back to bed but were promptly woken again by the bugle for breakfast. Then hoisted the sails and competed in a treasure hunt which red watch won with only 8 minutes.
We set sail through the Hinchinbrook Channel around the largest jetty in the southern hemisphere at Lucinda. We anchored at Esk Island and went swimming around the vessel, doing front flips, group jumps, climbing the bowsprit and even kissing the mermaid.
After drying off we immediately raised the anchor and resumed our voyage to our final destination of the night between Herald and Rattlesnake Island. Over the side railings we spotted a Spanish Mackerel following the vessel and continued to do so for almost 3 hours.
Our efforts that day were rewarded with a beautiful pink and orange sunset and a turtle that enjoyed some dinner with us. Tomorrow morning will be the last morning of our voyage also marking command day where we students will be taking control of the ship to set sail back home by 3:30.
