VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250706
FROM: Cairns To: Townsville
POSITION: Haycock Is
DATE: 9 July 2025
REPORT: White Watch
Rain overnight. Upon rising to a bugle call at 0630 hours, everything on deck was soggy from the rain. Due to sogginess, the knotting competition was held below deck. A rope was strung above the table … tying a knot on a wobbly line was a challenge but all managed the bowline and clove hitch.
After a breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast, a shore party headed to Dunk Island. Some stayed at the beach and swam, while the more adventurous of the crew followed Skipper Jim up a boggy and windy path to a lookout. Arriving soggy from sweat, the view would have been impressive except there was zero visibility due to the thick whiteout fog!
The final shore party was late returning and nearly missed lunch as a head count on shore revealed a missing person! The manifest identified that missing person as a teenage shower enthusiast. Concerns arose that the teenager had dissolved in the hot water, but he was finally located and all returned to South Passage safe and sound.
After lunch, sails were raised and South Passage headed through the Hinchinbrook Channel. The drizzle had cleared, and the sun was out. It was looking like a good afternoon sail but, alas the humidity reached one hundred percent and the air was soggy again.
Arrived Haycock Island, adjacent to Hinchinbrook Island around 1835 hours.
The mozzies are buzzing. Hoping for a restful sleep.
