Our day kicked off at midnight with a cheerful wake-up call from our wonderful watch leader, Ed. We started with some theory, covering knot-tying and the basics of navigation. After a brief rest, the day resumed at 0630 with a hearty pancake breakfast, followed by a knot-tying competition featuring the reef knot and the backstays — let’s just say it wasn’t our strongest showing.
By 0900, the sails were prepped and hoisted, and we set course for Dunk Island. We arrived around 1530 and enjoyed some time ashore (1600-1700), complete with a swim and a refreshing shower. Later, we had another go at knot-tying — this time the Figure of 8 — and came out victorious!
Dinner was a delicious Chinese Chicken Stir-Fry with rice, topped off with Sticky Date Pudding for dessert. Lights out was at 2130 — bonne nuit!
