VOYAGE NUMBER:  20250506

FROM: Manly To: Hervey Bay

DATE: 8 May 2025

POSITION: Kingfisher Bay Resort

REPORT: Blue Watch

The day started with the early call to raise the anchor from the pristine waters of the Sandy Straights just near Garry’s anchorage. We often wondered whether it was to do with our skipper Gary’s previous visits to the region.

Our journey continued heading north between Fraser Island and the mainland. The narrow channel between the island and Pelican bank required constant attention to stay on course. Upon making out of the heads, we headed north west to Coongul Creek.

Dropped anchor at the Kingfisher Bay resort where the hardy types took the opportunity to enjoy the tranquil Broadwater walk, finishing with a dip in the ocean. There was an incident that shall be labelled ‘mudgate’, but was swiftly washed away.

The whole crew including the wonderful cook Louise, were all hands on the capstan in order to raise the anchor. Jibing, tacking and persistence brought us all the way to anchor for a spectacular sunset.
