VOYAGE NUMBER:  20250428

FROM: Manly To: Manly

DATE: 1 May 2025

POSITION: St Helena Is

REPORT: White Watch

We weighed anchor with the crew on the manual capstan (which is not electric). We started the day off from the northern tip of Moreton and had strong southerly’s. We raised the mainsail and foresail with reefs in both. We had reefs in the main and foresail as it was windy and got up to 25 knots.  The reefs makes the sails more controllable. We sailed past Tangalooma then headed south west and became the masters of tacking!

As we headed towards the bay the swell slowly died off meaning everyone was able to beat the seasickness, but the southerly winds were still too strong to make a stop at the Tangalooma wrecks. Through the day we spotted dolphins and even a fever of stingrays.

We watched the sun set as we anchored on the north west side of St Helena Island and out of the wind. White watch is the best and we have won every knot tying competition but one ( the sheet bend).

During the day we were fed the most delicious meals cooked by Cath. We had bacon and eggs for breakfast, burritos for lunch and beef stew for dinner. We finished off the day by electing our Skipper, Navigator, Sailing Master and Watch Leaders. Tomorrow is Command Day!
