CLIENT: Seven Day Youth Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250421
FROM: Gladstone To: Manly
DATE: 24 April 2025
POSITION: Inskip Point
REPORT: White Watch
This morning was definitely a morning to remember. After hours of night sailing, we made it into Hervey Bay and anchored down at 6am. By morning, we had another knotting competition where blue watch won the race for the clove hitch.
We then went into the port of Urangan in Hervey Bay. With some people being quite seasick the day before, we all got off the boat and went onto the wharf to have a moment of still ground recovery time.
From here, we sailed over to Moon Point. To get there, we put up all the sails and everyone was working together really well and efficiently. It was definitely the best everyone has worked together the whole voyage… especially White Watch! When we reached the spot, we jumped off the side of the boat for a swim and climbed up to kiss the mermaid on the bow.
As we headed to our final destination for the night, the view of the surrounding islands was lovely and the afternoon was really enjoyable with only a few showers here and there. Just before entering the strait, we lowered the sails and by sunset, we were heading into the Great Sandy Strait where we would have to begin carefully navigating the shallow and narrow channel. Although a bit tricky at times we were able to safely navigate through with smooth waters and good wind until we finally made it through to our anchor point for the night, Inskip Point. A bit less dramatic than last night but definitely a much more relaxing break from the previous long night.
