POSITION: Green Is

REPORT: White Watch

Our first day on the water was nothing short of adventurous. We started by motoring out of the jetty and then went straight into hauling the sails. On our two-hour watch, we tacked 3 times to change the schooner’s direction. There was also some sea sickness which riddled the white watch group. This meant that other team members had to step up on their behalf, helping to keep the ship safe.
After dropping the anchor, we enjoyed a nice afternoon swim practising front flips and climbing up the bobstay to reach the golden mermaid. We also learnt how to tie cool knots such as a round turn and two half hitches. Using these skills, we triumphantly defeated the other watches in a knot tying competition before dinner.
