CLIENT: Youth Voyage
VOYAGE NUMBER: 20250114
FROM: Manly To: Manly
DATE: 15 January 2025
POSITION: Horseshoe Bay, Peel Is
REPORT: Red Watch
Our evening anchor watch journey began at midnight, with a beautiful view of the full moon, glistening, mirror-like waters and a turtle that swam by at around 2:30 am. After locating the eastern cardinal with our compasses, we made notes of the events that occurred during our watch with a steaming glass of hot chocolate. When we woke up in the morning, we headed up to the deck to claim another victory in the knot competition. Once the knotting competition was over, we headed over to the Big Sandhills for a swim and a slide.
After a beautiful lunch made by our lovely cook Cath, we were called into our watch groups, preparing to hoist the sails. All members of the watch group were allocated a position to begin sailing to Peel Island.
Our journey to Peel Island was rough with the wind strengthening to 20 knots, all hands were on deck to maintain a steady ship. After the ship’s arrival in Peel Island, we marked the end of our Practice Voyage with a session of reflection.
